The 'Bee' Movie at Harmonie Haus Cinema's
Sunday afternoon, November 04, 2007, all Jacob’s Village residents returned home from their Church, grabbed a quick lunch and headed West to New Harmony. Debbie, Donna Kay, Wanda, Mike, Michael, Scott, and Home Coordinators Gloria and Joe left Jacob’s Village about 1:00pm to catch the 2:00pm showing of Jerry Seinfeld’s ‘The Bee Movie’ at The Harmonie Haus Cinema. The residents are no stranger to The Harmonie Haus Cinema having been there to see movies on a few occasions, depending on their schedule, weather conditions, and current movie showing. When attending, arriving early is always desired so everyone can enjoy a dip of their favorite ice-cream in a cup or cone before the show. The two favored flavors of ice-cream on this day were Rocky-Road and Strawberry, and how good they were. By the time everyone had disposed of their ice-cream, it was time for the show. The Harmonie Haus Cinema has two screens with seating capacity of 65 in one and 85 in the other. Usually at The Harmonie Haus, a person doesn’t have to wrestle with crowds to get seats like at most other theatres. On occasion, for highly anticipated movies, they do have near capacity crowds but on this day, there were only 18 seats occupied. ‘The Bee Movie’, as one could guess, is about Bees, the lives of Bees and how Bees are our friends. The movie hits home the fact that farmers who provide for everyone’s life; without Bees pollinating, life as we know it would not exist. Seinfeld is the voice of Barry B. Benson, a recent High Honor College Graduate, who wants more out of life than what awaits him at Honex, making Honey. On a special trip outside the hive, Barry lands in a New York City flower shop, and the florist saves his life from a swat of a newspaper. He follows her home and breaks the golden rule of talking to humans. The florist and Barry become good buddies. Through her he learns that all the hard work he and his buddies put into making honey, mankind is stealing it. Barry takes his case to court, orchestrates a universal strike, finds out the key role bees play in life, and then saves the day by reestablishing the bees into making honey. A delightful movie, a customer friendly theater, and a good time was had by all. The residents all work hard at their respected jobs every day through the week and look forward to the weekends that provide a change of scenery. Although, the Jacob’s Village grounds are a breath of fresh-air with new and upcoming attractions, it’s nice to be able to go out to entertaining venues. Shows, plays, concerts, and most any outdoor activity is enjoyed by all and different faces to look at are a delight. Everyone is invited to come out to put a smile on each others face here within the domain of Jacob’s Village.
